Louise Braithwaite is based in Hampshire, England. Over the last nine years she has developed a style of painting which is vibrant and expressive yet based on her background in graphic illustration. Her paintings are predominately figurative and painted in oils on board. She aims to capture the underlying essence of a crowded scene or an individual person in a stylised and naive fashion. Her paintings have been described as “happy Lowrys”.

Many of Louise’s pictures are of London park or river scenes but after moving to Hampshire in 1997 she developed a love of the sea which is reflected in her paintings.
